I grew up on a small town: everybody knew your business. There were a number of reasons why this was a good thing, although it could also be annoying as can be.

There is an understandable desire and even need for law enforcement to recapture those days–and advantages for many others to do so as well.

But a big central government is an impersonal government: and this is frightening!
